How to Eat Delicious Meals while Losing Fat

To enjoy your fat loss diet, you need to make it easy to follow. When I first started coaching people online I gave them strict macro numbers to hit every day. I had them weight all their food and log everything into a calorie counting app.

Of course, that produced awesome results. But it wasn't exactly enjoyable.

What if you want to eat out? What if you don't want to think about food all day?

Well now I have a different strategy for tracking macros. Here it is:

Track only calories and protein (with 90% accuracy)

Use a fixed diet structure every day

Let me explain each of them one by one.

For a bodybuilder looking to get to 5% while keeping all his muscle and strength, yes, tracking each macronutrient closely is important. But for the average guy looking to get the model, actor type physique tracking only calories and protein is more than enough.

Here's why:

The calorie deficit leads to fat loss and an adequate protein intake maintains muscle mass. Carbs and fats don't need to be fixed every day. Today you may have a higher carb day and tomorrow you may have a higher fat day. As long as you keep calories and protein the same, you'll always get a good balance of fats and carbs as a weekly average.

It's almost exactly the same as tracking macros daily but allowing much more flexibility. This strategy allows you to eat out. It also brings variety to your diet, making it much more enjoyable.

Now let's talk about point number 2 - having a fixed diet structure.

You may say a fixed diet structure makes a diet harder to stick to but I disagree. If you take the time to discover the most enjoyable way for you do eat in a deficit, why would you eat any other way?

Let me give you a concrete example. My friend Ovidiu, who films me at the gym, recently started working out and losing weight. As a filmmaker he spends little time at home so he's forced to eat out a lot.

He decided the easiest strategy for him to stay in a deficit is to fast during the morning hours, and then have two huge meals in the second part of the day.

If he deviates from this diet structure he finds it much harder and less enjoyable to stay in a deficit. You may grab a snack here and a bad meal there and realize you've used all your calories without even feeling satisfied.

This is the reason why I use a fixed diet structure. When I'm cutting I do this:

Morning - sparkling water and black coffee

2 PM - Protein and Veggies (30% of calories)

~50g protein, ~15g fiber, ~30g carbs, ~20g fat,

6 PM - High fat meal or dessert (30% of calories)

~30-50g fat, ~30-50g carbs, ~5-30g protein

8 PM - High carb, high protein meal (40% of calories)

80-100g protein, 100-130g carbs, 15-20g of fat

If I deviate from this structure not only do I find it harder to track macros but I enjoy the meals less. For example if I had some cake at lunch I'd hate it that I need to eat less in the evening. It's less enjoyable. So I'd rather save the cake for 6PM.

I've learned this lesson from my fitness mentor Greg from Kinobody. He has a fixed diet structure too and never deviates from it because he can't find a way to eat that's more enjoyable than that.

You can be flexible with your meals but I recommend you are rigid with how you spread food throughout the day and what macros you have in each meal. Those should stay constant in my opinion.

So if you follow these two simple rules I believe tracking macros for fat loss will be very easy:

Track only calories and protein

Eat the same enjoyable way every day

Black Beans vs. Weight Loss? | Fat Burning Foods- Thomas DeLauer

Limited Time- 1:1 Nutrition Consultations- more at beans have a bad rap. A lot of people will tell you that the amylase inhibitor in black beans is preventing you from absorbing the protein associated with them, leaving you with basically a food that is worthless I'm doing this video to sort of debunk that, or at least give you a way to work around it. First and foremost, I want to give you three solid reasons why black beans are awesome and should be incorporated into your diet at the right time.

Number one is simple. They're super-antioxidant rich. Any fruit or vegetable, or legume in this case, that is super dark in color like that is going to be nutrient dense; in this particular case, antioxidant-rich. Antioxidants are what are going to fight off the free radicals. They're going to allow us to ultimately absorb more nutrients and feel better.

The number two reason is an obvious one. They're high in fiber. I'm talking about this from a different angle. Fiber is great; helps digestion. What is really interesting is that fiber has been shown to reduce levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), which is basically the primary marker of inflammation within the body. Black beans are one of the most dense foods when it comes to fiber. I would definitely recommend eating beans when it comes to reducing inflammation; unless, of course, you have an actual antibody response to it.

Number three is going to be: What black beans can do for your blood sugar. You get a nice starchy carb that has a lot of volume to it, so it satiates you, gives you that feeling of being full really. The nice thing is it levels off your blood sugar. Because of the fiber content, it takes such a long time to digest, that it can actually lower blood sugar; especially when combined with other carbohydrates that might be a little higher glycemic.

Now, I wanted to tell you what I promised you. How can you get around the fact that black beans contain that analyse inhibitor? It's simple. You eat the foods that need to be digested faster beforehand. Let's say, the foods like the proteins, like the meats, maybe the vegetables, things like that that might assimilate really quick. You're going to eat those first, then you're going to follow them up with the foods that digest slower; in this case, black beans. All you really have to do to overcome the analyse inhibitor is eat your beans last. That way, the analyse inhibitor slows down the digestion of the protein, but it doesn't completely inhibit it. You also are absorbing the other food first and getting the satiating long-term effect of the black beans digesting slowly later on throughout the day.

There you have it. There's your way to get around the black bean barrier that you've heard all the time. I'll see you in the next video.

Full day of eating while preparing for a photoshoot. Dairy free, gluten free, wheat free, guilt free oatmeal pancake.

Oatmeal pancake recipe:

Ingredients:

40 grams oat flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 egg

Splash vanilla extract

Sprinkle of cinnamon

Almond/cashew milk

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a bowl except cashew milk

add cashew milk last 1 tbs at a time until you achieve pancake batter consistency.

Heat skillet to medium

Spray with non stick spray

Pour batter into hot pan

Wait until top bubbles then flip

Just like cooking a pancake

Enjoy!!

Berry syrup Recipe:

40 g raspberry

40 g blackberry

1 tbs truvia

1/2 cup water

Directions

Bring water to boil

add berries and truvia

smash berries

let simmer for about 10 minutes

the longer the simmer the thicker the syrup

pour over your pancake

eat it

enjoy it

tell a friend

be happy

eat pancakes

Yes it is definitely possible to burn fat while you sleep and I have a couple tips that I'd like to give you that will help you burn more fat while sleeping however I don't want you to think that sleeping is going to be your fat burning solution because sleeping alone will definitely not be a major contributor to the fat loss process

the tips that I provide will help increase the quality of your sleep and in turn will help increase the amount of fat that you burn while you sleep but make no mistake you're always going to be burning way more fat when you're awake. When you're awake your body has to work harder just to keep you awake not even to mention all the other ways you expend energy when your active. Even if you're just sitting there twiddling ur thumbs you're burning more calories than when you're asleep.

With that being said if you get adequate sleep you'll be sleeping over 50 hours every week and we want to make every one of those hours count towards losing body fat.

the first thing that you could do to ensure you're burning the maximum amount of calories while you're sleeping is get enough sleep. the most common recommendation is to get 8 hours of sleep however a lot of people have a tough time doing that. Either because of work or other responsibilities 8 hours of sleep every night of the week is unlikely. Some recommend that it's even better to get 9 hours of sleep but at minimum I would say you need to get at least 6. Do your best to shoot for the 8 hours of sleep as much as you can. There have been studies done that show when different groups of people are put on a weight loss program and one group gets very little sleep and the other group gets adequate sleep the group that did not get its sleep ended up losing the same exact amount of weight. However lost a lot more muscle mass. which means the group that got its sleep ended up losing more body fat.

This could be attributed to a number of different factors including optimal hormone production from getting enough sleep also better more intense workouts from being well-rested and much better Muscle Recovery leading to increased muscle mass. this means that all the opposite is true from not getting enough sleep your muscles won't be recovering as much and you could even lose muscle mass

your hormones will be out of whack especially if you're not getting enough sleep again and again and again. What will happen is that you're leptin levels will go down and your ghrelin levels will go up which will make you hungrier throughout the day. And the last thing that'll happen if you don't get enough sleep is your performance in the gym will suffer which will lead you to burning less fat during your workouts and again building less muscle. So just make sure you're trying to get an average of 8 hours of sleep per day.

The next thing you can do to burn more fat while you sleep is have a high protein meal with some healthy fats right before bed. A lot of people will get hungry right before bed. Rather than telling you to ignore it and just go to sleep because usually this is easier said than done. My recommendation is to have either a high protein meal or a protein shake preferably made from a slow digesting protein like casein. And you can also combine it with some healthy fats. Not only will this fill up your stomach and take the edge off of your hunger but it will also help you build more muscle while you sleep and boost your metabolism while it digests. The fat will further slow digestion increasing the amount of calories you burn while you sleep. You can do this with fat and protein, but do not have carbohydrates right before bed when trying to burn fat while you sleep. Carbs are used for energy and are preferred by your body over fat, so if you give your body carbs right before bed your body can either use them or store them. But it definitely will not be using your fat stores for energy when given the choice between carbs and fats.

When trying to burn fat, I recommend that you cut out carbohydrates five to six hours before bed. All carbohydrates except for green vegetables. This way your body will be a lot more inclined to break down and use body fat while you sleep rather than carbohydrates coming from your diet.

The last things you can do to burn more fat while sleeping is sleep in total darkness and keep the temperature colder. Sleeping in total darkness has been shown to release the hormone melatonin, which can aid in the production of calorie-burning brown fat.
